EVERYONE IS GEARING-UP FOR THE HEADIES

The headies comes up on October 22nd. The highly anticipated music award has 58 artistes in its nominations this year; With first nominations for the new acts in the industry including kas, tiwa savage, Olamide and samklef while some artistes like IcePrince, Dr. Sid and 2face have been nominated for over five times. The headie award is a 21-carat gold which is twenty in all. The two record labels that topped the nominations lists include 'chocolate city' and 'Mo' hits'. Chocolate City had 15 nominations including nine nominations for Ice Prince (Song of the year, Producer of the year, Best Rap Single for Oleku and She and my Swagga, Lyricist on the roll,’Best Collabo’ for Oleku and Joor Oh Remix , ‘Next Rated’ and ‘Best street hop’ for Joor Oh Remix ), Five nominations for M.I (Artiste of the year, Album of the year, Best Collabo, Best Conscious music and lyricist on the roll) while Jesse Jagz has two nominations for Producer of the Year and Hiphopworld revelation of the year. Mo’ Hits Records as usual also got high nominations with 10 nominations. Six nominations for Dr. Sid in ‘Album of the Year, ‘Song of the Year’, ‘Best Pop single’, ‘Best RNB/ Pop album’, ‘Producer of the Year’ and ‘Revelation of the Year’ categories. D’banj follows closely with nominations for ‘Artiste of the Year’, song of the year (Give it to me and Pop something), ‘Pop Single’ and ‘Producer of the Year’; D’Prince has two nominations for ‘Best Pop Single’ and ‘Song of the Year’ while Don Jazzy is nominated for ‘Producer of the Year’. New comers ( with category) to the list include Kas (Song of the year, Best Pop single), Olamide (Best Music Video, Rap Single, Street Hop and Next rated), Samklef (Producer of the year, StreetHop), Gini (Best Music Video), J Sleek (Producer of the year), Flavour (Best Collabo and Best RNB Single) Tiwa Savage ( Next Rated and Best Female Vocal performance) , Lynxx (Revelation of the year), Vector (Lyricist on the roll) , Goldie (Best Music Video and collabo of the year), Wizboyy (Street Hop), Essence (Best Collabo) and Patrick Ellis (Best Music Video). Usual suspects (with category) include Waje (Best RNB single and Best Female Vocal performance) , Mo’ Cheddah (Best Music Video and Revelation of the year), Eva (Best Female Vocal performance and recording of the year), Modenine (Lyricist on the roll), Terry Tha Rapman (Best Rap Single, Best Rap album and Lyricist on the roll) Timi Dakolo (Best conscious music, Producer of the year and Best Male vocal performance) also make the nominees list for the highly coveted awards. As usual 2face makes his mark on The Headies list as he attains seven nominations in the ‘Album of the Year’, ‘Artiste of the Year’, ‘Song of the Year’, ‘Producer of the Year’, ‘Best RnB Single’, ‘Best Conscious Music’ and ‘Best RnB / Pop Album’ categories. A new category (best conscious music) was included into the headies this year which nominated 2face, Timi dakolo, M.I, omawunmi and eldee. This music award has been tagged by some artistes as the best music award in Nigeria. This year promises to be a great one with Eldee and Rita dominic being the hosts and the theme song titled "stand out, surpass, break from the norm" produced by samklef features illbliss, waje, IcePrince.

SOULJA BOY ARRESTED FOR POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA

Reports say Soulja boy has been arrested earlier this morning for drug possession. Soulja boy, who is only 21, was arrested in Temple, Georgia after police pulled him over for violating the traffic rules. After the "crank that" rapper was pulled over, the police found marijuana, guns and some cash in his car. They found around $70,000 cash inside the vehicle. Along with Soulja boy, four other men in the vehicle were also arrested, and they are currently being held in Carrol County Jail. Soulja boy by now, will be planning on getting a lawyer. NAETO C WENT MAD AT HIS FAN ON TWITTER

Naeto C (Naetochukwu chike) who still has his hit records "5 & 6" and "10 over 10" gaining airplay went mad at a twitter fan after the fan tweeted about his 2011 BET cypher performance. The 2011 BET awards was held at Boisfeuillet Jones Atlanta Civic Center, USA, on October 1. It was aired on BET international. The Nigerian Cypher was grazed by artists like Ice Prince, Sauce Kid, M.I, Mode 9 and Naeto C etc. The drama happened on Sunday, 16th October when NaetoC (Naeto chike) first tweetted about his performance at the cypher hoping to receive good comments all through but things didn't go that way after a fan gave him a thumbs down about his performance. Naeto C started off by tweeting, “Wow, I’m trending again today lol, what’s going on?" He first got responses like "BET CYPHER!! YOU TRY SIR!! and “You killed Cypher Datz Why! YesBoss”. The multiple award winning rapper thanked them for congratulating him. It was after this that the "critic-fan" tweeted "Bros u no try for dat cypher oo.” Naeto C got angry that he had to abuse the fan's father by saying “Na ur papa wey no try,” A supportive fan of the rapper also got into the drama replying the critic “u no sabi anything … who tell u say boss no try. Na back of TV u watch?” Naeto C then tweeted further with this tweet “On the cypher, everybody did their thing, if you don’t like any artist , his style or bars, which some may not get, simply keep it moving …” He added; “After all we were chosen to rep our country which is historical in itself, I’m the best @ what I do, MI and Mode are the best at what they do etc.”
